EXECUTIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Executive Board of Directors is the elected national leadership of Sigma Lambda Beta. Comprised of five board members and a Chairman, they are responsible for long term organization strategy, financial policies, and act with the best interest of the Fraternity in mind.
EXECUTIVE OFFICE
The Executive Office is comprised of Sigma Lambda Beta’s paid staff members. Our staff members handle the day-to-day business of the Fraternity. The Executive Office works with collegiate entities in their operations, offices of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and other stakeholders.

JASON SMOLKA
National Chairman
Brother Jason "Maestro" Smolka, joined Sigma Lambda Beta on 12/21/2001 at our Omicron Chapter, at Iowa State University. Brother Smolka holds three degrees from Iowa State; a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering and a Master's in Systems Engineering. He also received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 2009. Professionally, Brother Smolka has been an engineer, entrepreneur, consultant and college administrator. He has spent time working for small start-ups and global Fortune 100 companies. Throughout his life Brother Smolka has lived in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, Ohio, and Wisconsin and still enjoys traveling and learning about new places and cultures on a regular basis. Today, Brother Smolka is proud to call the Chicagoland area home, where he lives with his wife and three school-age children.

TONY JACKSON
Board Member
Brother Tony Jackson(He/They) joined Sigma Lambda Beta on April 17, 2016, as a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Delta Delta chapter. As an undergraduate, he was looking for a brotherhood that would help him find community and a sense of belonging on such a large campus. During his undergraduate career, he held several positions, including Treasurer, Vice president-external, and his most accomplished position as President of the Multicultural Greek Council. He graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Retailing & Consumer Behavior, and a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature. Since graduation, he has continued being an active member of Sigma Lambda Beta holding positions such as Regional Director and Alumni Advisor for his chapter. In his position on the board, Brother Jackson hopes to continue fostering an accepting environment for undergraduates to find their place in Sigma Lambda Beta the way he was able to, as well as, create a sense of transparency for the brotherhood both Alumni and undergraduates, alike. He currently works in healthcare IT as an Implementation Project Manager, and resides in Southern California.

JOHN SERRANO
Southeast
Brother Johnny joined Sigma Lambda Beta on 11/16/2014 at Gamma Gamma Chapter, The University of Central Florida. As a student, Brother Johnny would go on to complete a BS in Sports & Exercise Science from The University of Central Florida. Professionally, Johnny is an Environmental Health Specialist at the Kennedy Space Center assisting with conducting various evaluations within the field of industrial hygiene to detect/monitor hazards that may pose a threat to employees, flight hardware and the environment. Johnny resides in Orlando, FL and on his spare time he enjoys traveling, fishing and visiting theme parks.

Jonathan Spencer Martinez
Southwest
Brother (Jonathan) Spencer "El Eclipse" Martinez joined Sigma Lambda Beta on April 27, 2019 at The Inextinguishable Xi Delta Chapter, Auraria Campus. As a student, Brother Spencer would go on to complete 2 B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and ACS Certified Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Professionally, Brother Spencer is an Mechanical Engineer at The Ballard Group designing plumbing, fire protection and medical gas systems for buildings such as recreation centers, schools and hospitals in Denver, CO and on his spare time he is a sewist/embroiderer designing and creating his own clothes and an avid video gamer. I joined the SLB Regional Director role to bring together and steward the Southwest region. I want to ensure all chapters are not only caught up with expected communications and duties, but also inspired to go above and beyond. My biggest motivation is seeing chapters having successes. Whether that means finding great ways to have meetings, planning out successful events that directly impact local communities or the brotherhood gathering together and sharing an experience at a regional or national level.

Fernando Curiel
West
Brother Fernando “Xolián” Curiel joined Sigma Lambda Beta on June 2nd, 2019 at the Nu Delta Chapter, University of California-Los Angeles. As a student, Brother Fernando would go on to complete a BA in Sociology with minors in Education Studies and Chicano/a Studies from University of California- Los Angeles.
He is on track to pursue a Masters of Education in School Counseling at the University of Southern California starting Fall 2025. Professionally, Brother Fernando is an Alumni Counselor at Brio College Prep, he supports many underrepresented students from various backgrounds specifically from the Pico Union area in Los Angeles. Through his role, he prioritizes college access and retention by supporting his students through the application process and working with his school’s alumni to persist through their first year post-secondary. Brother Fernando is a Los Angeles native and Compton raised. In his spare time he enjoys exploring new coffee shops, record stores, and hanging out with his family.

William Velazquez
Central
Brother William “Espiritu” Velazquez, joined our beloved Fraternity in Fall 2008 at Tau Beta Chapter, Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois. As an undergraduate William was very active on campus and held numerous leadership positions in the chapter and in other student organizations. As an Alumni he brought on the same energy being very active in various roles throughout the Central Regional Board and Chicago Alumni Network of Sigma Lambda Beta. The next step on his long career of leadership is being Regional Director for Central Region of Sigma Lambda Beta. A spirit of motivation, volunteerism and action, along with his carefully selected board of Assistant Regional Directors will bring in positive change to the Central Region which in turn will see fruitful growth as well as an alignment within Undergraduate and Alumni Brothers.

Daniel Rivera
East
Brother Daniel Rivera joined Sigma Lambda Beta on December 9, 2017, at Upsilon Epsilon Chapter, Ferris State University. As a student, Brother Daniel went on to complete a BS in Spanish for the Professions and an Associate in Applied Speech Communication from Ferris State University.
Professionally, Daniel Rivera is a Senior Democracy Defense Manager at All Voting is Local, where he works to protect and expand access to the ballot, advocate for election transparency, and support voter protection efforts. He resides in Wyoming, Michigan, and in his spare time, he enjoys painting, reading, and traveling the world. Brother Daniel Rivera took on the East Region Director role to uplift the next generation of Sigma Lambda Beta leaders. He understands the challenges chapters face and is committed to providing mentorship, resources, and structure to help them thrive. His goal is to foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and lifelong brotherhood.
