Chi Beta Chapter Showcase #CultureIs Campaign at Arizona State University

This past month, The Chi Beta Chapter at Arizona State University showcased a #CultureIs Campaign where they asked their college peers to write a phrase on a white board stating what they feel Culture means to them. The entity was able to get over 100 submissions from students and staff members throughout the campus!

Our What is Culture? Campaign aims to showcase our student population and community by letting people know that culture goes far beyond just skin color and stereotypes.

We are currently attending various Greek events and walking around the ASU campus with markers and a whiteboard to ask Sun Devils what their definition of #CultureIs. The overarching theme is that an individual’s culture encompasses every moment of their being, and that there is more to an individual’s worth than any preconceived notions based on their outward appearance.

The goal of this campaign is for students and faculty to take a picture that captures who they truly are and post it to social media sites with the hashtag #CultureIs. Currently, we are encouraging people to start making their own signs in addition to finding us on campus; this way, we can get an organic campaign mobilized and have people support it from anywhere in the world.

We want people of all races, ethnic backgrounds, ages, genders, and sexual orientations to join the movement to promote a better understanding of all people.

We encourage you to view some of the pictures that other students we have already posted by searching for the hashtag #CultureIs on Instagram and checking out our progress so far on our Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/ASUSigmaLambdaBeta.
