NORTH LIBERTY, IA (February 16, 2017) — Today, many businesses are closing their doors in support of the “A Day Without Immigrants” movement. Instead, many immigrants, and their supporters, will march through Washington, D.C. to show that immigrants are not just important in our society, they are indispensable to the overall success of our nation.
Sigma Lambda Beta is proud to support this movement, not just because we believe the cause is just, but because many of our own brothers are immigrants or are descendants of immigrants. We recognize that the contributions made by immigrants and their families/descendants are what help make America great. Thus, this cause is very close to too many of us.
We believe the best way Sigma Lambda Beta can meaningfully support this movement is to support the local businesses that participated in the strike. Because we are coast to coast, we have a unique ability to truly highlight the far reaching impact of this strike. Thus, we encourage our brothers to take some time this weekend to visit and support these businesses once they re-open! As you support these businesses, post a picture to our social media channels and include the hashtags #BetasSupportImmigrants #ImmigrantsAreBetas to show how SLB supports the many immigrants that make up our great nation.
