In the wake of the protests in Minnesota, Sigma Lambda Beta recommends our Brothers and community from around the world do what they can to help the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The following organizations/funds have been recommended by local members. We aim to update this list with more organizations as they become available.
George Floyd Go Fund Me – Official fundraiser setup by the family of George Floyd.
Minnesota Freedom Fund – Grassroots organization that will use donations to bail out arrested protestors. [Update: As of 5/30 they are asking for donations to be sent to other organizations]
Minnesota Betas – Brothers from our Alpha Beta chapter will be taking donations and purchasing supplies for the local community. You can send money with Venmo to @MinnesotaBetas
Black Visions Collective – Black-led, Queer and Trans centering organization whose mission is to organize powerful, connected Black communities and dismantle systems of violence.
Reclaim the Block – Reclaim the Block is a community coalition representing activists, organizers, faith, and community leaders.
Support The Cities – Organizing food, clothing, and city cleanup volunteer events.
MIGIZI – Native American youth community center whose building was damaged.
