Sigma Lambda Beta would like to congratulate Brother Luis Flores (Eta Chapter) on being selected as one of five recipients of the Forward, Together Forward Scholarship at Northern Illinois University.
Winners of the scholarship must demonstrate strength of character (as demonstrated through traits such as a strong work ethic, motivation, inspiration, a high regard for others, integrity and/or intellectual curiosity). Applicants must also exhibit solid academic credentials.
Luis was awarded the scholarship based on his work with NIU’s Latino Resource Center and with his chapter. In addition he has maintained a 3.35 GPA with NIU’s School of Nursing.
The Forward, Together Forward Scholarship Endowment was created through the generosity of more than 1,770 donors to honor the five students (Gayle Dubowski, Catalina Garcia, Julianna Gehant, Ryanne Mace and Daniel Parmenter) whose lives were lost on February 14, 2008 during a mass shooting.
