The Rho Beta Chapter at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS was featured for their involvement with giving someone an opportunity of a lifetime.
Tariq Barksdale, 18, of Wichita, KS, was admitted into WSU with the help of Bro. Joshua Villa and the Rho Beta Chapter. The chapter helped Tariq get enrolled at WSU, but it doesn’t stop there. His college expenses were all taken care of thanks to Bro. Joshua, the Rho Beta Chapter and a WSU faculty member.

Great job to Bro. Josh and the Rho Beta Chapter on giving this young man the opportunity of a lifetime!

Thank you for sharing this inspiring story about the Rho Beta chapter's commitment to uplifting its members. Slope Run It's a beautiful reminder of how opportunities can transform lives and foster community.
The part that hit me was how many pieces had to line up—someone advocating, someone guiding the admissions/enrollment steps, and then real dollars showing up so Tariq can actually attend WSU. That kind of coordinated support is rare, and it’s why this feels like more than a feel-good story. On a random nerd note, it reminded me of learning the caesar cipher—one small “shift” changes what you’re able to read, and here one shift in support changes what’s possible.
It’s cool seeing a chapter get highlighted for something that’s actually concrete—enrollment help plus real financial backing—because that’s the stuff that changes a family’s whole situation. I hope Tariq has a solid support system once classes start, since being first into college (or just young in general) can be a lot. Small tangent: the “opportunity of a lifetime” phrasing instantly made me think of those dreamy before/after edits people do with ghibli ai, like a life moment turned into a scene.
I like that this wasn’t framed as charity for clout—it reads more like people in the community seeing a motivated kid and doing the work to make the path real. Helping with admissions is already big, but covering the costs with the chapter and a faculty member involved is next level support. Totally unrelated, but the “new chapter” theme made me think of those makeover moments people do with hairstyle ai—different kind of transformation, same fresh-start energy.
