The Alpha Gamma Chapter at Grand Valley State University along with the GVSU Muslim Students Association hosted the #iComeInPeace photo project. The project, which was modeled after GVSU’s I Too Am GVSU campaign, highlights the need for mutual understanding due to current political affairs and the dynamics of society concerning stereotypes American Muslims face everyday.

Participants of the photo project displayed cards that addressed a stereotype most felt by that individual member. Furthermore, the Grand Valley Betas aimed to overcome the misconceptions that divide everyone and raise cultural awareness on what can unite us. By giving viewers a window into the reality students at GVSU face, the Alpha Gamma chapter hope to bridge the gap caused by a lack of awareness, diversity and representation on a campus that does not facilitate a multicultural student body.

If you are interested in contributing to the photo project, use the hastag #iComeInPeace or if you would like to see the project, visit the Grand Valley Betas FaceBook page at https://www.facebook.com/GVBetas/media_set?set=a.828319047221002&type=1&pnref=story. Great job brothers and keep up the good work!
